Tell us the story of how you met...

Well we told people we met at PF Changs in line for the bathroom and he caught me as I tripped and fell. We really met on Match.com.

What was the first date like?

We met up at City Grill - it was Wednesday, February 3rd.  I got there first and as I was waiting for him to walk in, I suddenly panicked that I couldn't remember how tall he said he was in his Match profile… I wore heels. When he got there we hugged - it was fine (phew!). The place was packed and SO loud, and by some miracle we got two seats at the bar. We decided to order some appetizers and I made him choose. Naturally he chose two of the hardest things ever to eat on a date - lettuce wraps and I can't remember the other… but I just remember barely eating anything. I was totally nervous and luckily he's got the gift of the gab because he kept the conversation going the whole time. We decided to get a nightcap across the street which was the complete opposite atmosphere and super quiet. At this point the gift of my gab was in full effect and we talked and talked for another two hours. I just remember thinking that I didn't want the night to end.

What makes him crush worthy?

He's just one of the most genuinely good people I have ever known. He's generous, caring, passionate, smart and handsome, and much like on our first date, I just never want the night to end when I'm with him.

When did you know you wanted to spend the rest of your life with this man?

I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him when we were sitting at his favorite restaurant, The Pour House, watching a ‘Cuse game with a bunch of his friends. For some reason I got this overwhelming feeling of just being safe and exactly where I'm supposed to be.

Tell us about the proposal…

The day started much like any other. I went to work but was taking a half-day to situate something with my car. I had also made plans to get my nails done with my BFF - she was supposed to meet me at my old house that we were in the process of selling. As I was sitting at work in the morning, I decided that I wanted to meet at the new house before our nail appointment instead (obviously not realizing that all the meanwhile, Chris is at the new house executing his elaborate proposal). She quickly texted me back and super bluntly said NO and that she would just meet me at the nail place. In a total panic she called Chris to let him know what was up and he immediately called me to tell me that our entire neighborhood was being sprayed by the Orkin man for mosquitoes, and that we were to stay away for several hours. As annoyed as I was that I couldn't go home, I was super pumped about the Orkin man because I hate getting bit by mosquitoes! Anyways, my friend and I got our nails done, everything was great… I ran to Wegmans afterwards to get some taco stuff to make for dinner and as I pulled into the driveway, I decided to call my dad to catch up. I sat in the driveway for probably 20 minutes, not even realizing what Chris was going through inside waiting for me to open the door. Finally I walked up to the door - it was locked which was weird, and it had one sunflower in the handle. Also weird, but not totally unlike him… I just thought he was being cute. He got to the door and unlocked it, and as soon as I saw him I knew something was up. He was super nervous AND he had a sport coat on. He tried to say some things to me, all of which I cannot remember - and then he took my hand and walked me to our living room, which he had decked out in 150 sunflowers, each in their own individual vases. His plan had been to propose to me in an actual sunflower field, however it had rained so much that year that the crop had completely died and the sunflowers never grew. The rest of the moment was a blur - he got down on one knee, proposed to me in Farsi (which my dad had taught him beforehand) and I don't even remember if I actually said yes, but it was one of the best days of my life (even though the Orkin man didn't actually come).

Real Women of Rochester - Tiffany

De-Boudoir-144.jpg

Q: Tell us about your journey through womanhood

A: Wow! What a question! I guess that would have to start with what that means to me.  My whole life, I have been surrounded by strong women. My mother, my grandmother, my aunts and cousins have all shown strength emotionally and physically. To me a being a woman is, finding that strength within you to be yourself--to live freely. It is to be graceful with each challenge you face but with tenacity and confidence. It is to not cower in the shadow of a man.

My journey starts with college. After many years of partying, and fulfilling my biology degree requirements I was left thinking what every twenty-something thinks, "What am I doing with my life? Is it even meaningful?" I had goals of being a doctor, and OB/GYN. I wanted to deliver babies and inform women about their sexual health. My passion was deep, but it was also clouded. After many attempts at standardized tests, denied applications and hours of shadow experience I had to throw in the towel. It's hard letting go, I wandered this earth pretty aimlessly. That time even though I had no career goals; I had goals of becoming the woman I have always envisioned myself, just without the job. It took work, to find my confidence, my drive, and myself. But like a strong woman, I pulled through. To be honest, I still have no clue what I am going to do for the rest of my life but that is OK. I will figure it out, or most likely it will appear in my life kicking and screaming.

Q: What would you say to another woman who may be going through something you've been through?

A: To all the women worried about what they are "supposed" to be doing for the rest of their life:  Are you kind to yourself? Are you taking the best care of yourself? Do you leave conversations without doubt or feeling like you had to pretend to be someone? STOP with the smoke screen. Because the more we live authentically ourselves, the more we will be open to what we are actually supposed to do. And I am a firm believer in if we all do something we love, this world will be better off for it. Let your calling actually CALL you.

Q: How do you feel when you look at your favorite photo of yourself from your shoot?

A: I love it! I love that even though I was lost at that point in time, I was still figuring out who I am. It is a time marker, it reminds me all that happened and all that is still left to be.

Q: What would you share with a woman who doesn't think she is beautiful enough to be photographed?

A: Do you genuinely think that? Because even without seeing you, I know you are beautiful. Be kind to yourself, being you is what this world needs. Photographs are reminders of that. Let the world see how amazing you are.

DeAlwis-Boudoir-110.jpg

Q: What are your hopes for the next generation of women? What advice would you give to them?

A: It's ok to be lost. It is ok to not have every detail of your life figured out. Don't rush the process, but also don't wait for things to happen to you.

Q: What would you say to your sixteen-year-old self?

A: Oh, girl! Men are not everything, you are everything and more.

Q: What empowering message would you like to share with young women today?

A: Don't take change for granted. You are all witnesses to a lot of changes happening, politically. Don't forget all the people that have had to fight for equality before you. Do not take anything for granted.

De-Boudoir-160.jpg

Q: What's the biggest hurdle you've overcome career-wise as a woman?

A: Not knowing what my career is. I still don't, but my heart is open. I'm currently work for lululemon, and it has been such a great company to work for. Many people I work with say this company has helped them find what they are good at. So at work I take every opportunity to talk to interesting people, to do things i never would have done before. My hope is by putting myself out there and making myself uncomfortable, I will eventually find my dream career. Secretly, I would love to own a donut shop. But let's be honest, not many of them would make it into the case ;)

Q: What's the most empowering experience you've had as a woman?

A: Realizing my value, realizing my inner strength and my possibility. It wasn't one experience but a collection of many. A year ago my husband Andrew got matched to a program in Long Island. Let me preface, I knew no one and had no job prospects. The only thing I knew about Long Island were the Hamptons, the horrible traffic and the ice coffee was good. Being in this new situation I made a conscious decision to just put myself out there and see what happens. I set low expectations but high standards. I definitely gained self-love, learned what I am good at and became inspired. I spoke up more, did things I never would have done, talked to random strangers. I think the moment you decide to step outside your fear, is the moment you give yourself a little more out of life.

De-Boudoir-018.jpg

Q: When do you feel the most beautiful?

A: Working out, because somehow my inner strength (my self-confidence, my lack of doubt, my fearlessness) is matched by my outer strength. It is pretty euphoric.

Q: What do you love about being a woman?

A: Everything, my body, my mind, and my soul. The fact that I get to dress the way I want. That I get to make love to my husband. I can be a mother someday and have a special connection with another human. My strength, we are so much stronger than men.

Arazoza / Fishman Wedding Slideshow

DN0A1290.jpg

Sometimes a wedding is so magical and electric that words really can't describe it. From start to finish, Bethany & Lenny's wedding at Oak Hill Country Club was simply indescribable. Almost 300 family and beloved friends travelled from all over the US and the world to attend the union of these two families, cultures and religions. Their wedding party was comprised only of siblings / sibling-in-laws, and their parents were present and proud every step of the way. These two love each other fiercely, and their celebration was infused with as much exuberance and adventure as they exhibit in their daily lives. These two families could not be more loving, supportive, joyful, and frankly hysterically funny, it was an honor and a pleasure to spend the day with them :)

Shout outs to their incredible vendor team: Britney LaVoie at Black Label Events, Jessica Tran at Oak Hill, Lindsay & Kristin from Rock Paper Scissors, Kittelberger's Floral, friend Renee Paulson for ceremony flowers, and Brad from Jaqueline Daley Videography.

Such an honor to photograph these two.... And especially to treat this incredible bride to the same care, love and attention she showers her own clients with on their wedding day! Shout out to Jess (the other main member of this marriage lol) - the three of you are an unstoppable team. And the biggest shout out goes to Chris for letting me and Alyssa parade him around Buffalo in 20 degree weather for these incredible photos ;) Love to you and your families - you guys are the best!!! XOXOXO -Natalie + team!

Sasha & Antoine are two of the most generous, lovely, kind-hearted and compassionate people I've ever met. The two are both in the medical field - always helping others. It was no surprise that their family and friend's rose to the occasion to help, love and celebrate these two all day! 40 of Sasha's family members came from as far as Ghana and Barbados - Antoine had family in from Texas and all over the country. The Strathallan Hotel in Rochester NY was the gathering spot for the entire world to honor this relationship -- oh -- and to have a raging party to boot ;) Enjoy this slideshow that we made and displayed at their reception :)

Kung-Kogler Wedding - Same Day Slideshow

What a PERFECT day these two had at Belhurst Castle in Geneva this weekend... not only did we have a beautifully warm and sunny October day- but they couldn't be found without a smile on their faces and a loving gaze between the two of them. Scott & Nancy are truly the perfect match for each other - respectful and kind, sincere and a bit reserved, but most of all - head over heels for the other!! Enjoy this slideshow of their wedding - made and display at their reception!

Erica and Steve had the wedding day people dream and plan for. Erica “the planner” had every moment calculated down to the last detail, but no one could have predictedall the perfect spontaneous moments and spectacular weather that occurred on October 15th, 2016. I’m so happy and honored that I got to be a witness to this day. I have no doubt that #sterica will only grow stronger with each passing year. I can’t wait to watch what happens next.  - Whitney

Cala-Guadagnino Same Day Slideshow #twopeasinaguad

If a movie were two be made about high school romance (ok, another movie!), it should star these two. Not only did these two become best friends and eventually start dating in high school [read our #mancrushmonday story about Nick for THAT story!], but their roots go back even further than that! Their dads were best friends at the same high school (Bishop Kearney) - and there are several other crazy connections I won't even begin to describe (dad's welcome toast did it best!). The love and consideration they exhibit for each other is truly remarkable - and it was evident in every moment of their wedding. Enjoy the same day slideshow below that we made and displayed at their wedding reception at Casa Larga

Helfrich-DiMartino Wedding

Thank you to Whitney from Ivory House Photography for doing such an amazing job shooting this wedding with Natalie Sinisgalli Photography!

Now, a few words from Whitney:

The best man said is perfectly, “John and Nicole are the oldest young couple I know.” John and Nicole’s mutual respect, admiration and love for each other comes through in even the smallest of gestures. Thank you to the amazing couple and their families for hosting such a beautiful and thoughtful wedding. It was an absolutely honor to be a part of a day that I know will go down in history. Cheers to the happy couple. I can’t wait to see what adventures await you.

Anyone lucky enough to be present at Ashley & Andrew's picturesque wedding at Linehan Nazareth Chapel and Oak Hill Country Club this weekend knows just how in love (and loved!) these two are. Enjoy this Same Day Slideshow below that we produced and displayed at their reception!

Man Crush Monday | Alex Peterson

Keisha & Alex are one of those couples that might as well have cartoon hearts for eyes when they're looking at each other. In all my years photographing couples I have literally never seen a man so attentive or dedicated to keeping his woman happy and comfortable. They take care of each other, it's a beautiful thing. When I asked Keisha to write a little something about Alex, she jumped at opportunity to shine the spotlight on her man.

I knew I wanted to marry Alex during a really tough time in my life. I was at the lowest point in my relationship with someone very close to me, and he dropped everything he was doing at 11pm at night in the middle of his college studies at RIT to come and get me, and just be there for me.

Rochester-Wedding-Photographer-059

One of my favorite memories from our wedding day is how we sung the lyrics to each other from our wedding song during our first dance. Alex is super shy, but he sung those lyrics like no one else was in the room. Also the fact that he was so proud to have married me, I'm sure a lot of men and women are happy on their wedding day, but that man was PROUD!

When I was leaving to go do a Disney internship, I really didn't want to leave Alex, I knew I was going to miss him so much. I burst out crying in the car when we were driving home together the night before I had to leave. He pulled over on the side of the road in the middle of traffic, held my face and kissed each individual tear as they fell, reassuring me that everything would be okay. And there were a lot of tears, so just picture that!

Peterson-Wedding-333.jpg

Alex is my Man Crush because he makes it a point everyday multiple times a day to tell me I'm beautiful, he puts my happiness before his own everyday, and always makes sure that I'm taken care of whether I ask for it or not. No matter how many times I tell him he's a great provider, he always wants to do more; he sets the bar so high I can't even see it! He loves me for who I am, including ALL of my flaws, and we always encourage and accept each others honesty and truths without judgement. I know no matter what that at the end of day, even if he is upset with me, I can call on him and he will open up his arms and take me in anytime, day or night. I love how hard working he is, I love that my smile can melt him to pieces, and I love his persistence and passion. He is a one-of-kind, once-in-a-lifetime type of man, and I know I am a lucky girl! - Mrs. Keisha Peterson.

Man Crush Monday | Doug Gaudieri

Having the opportunity to feature Doug Gaudieri in our Man Crush Monday post is an incredible treat. Doug is the kind of man #mcm was invented for. A dedicated husband, loving father, and compassionate business man (owner of Rapid Print & Marketing), Doug puts his all into everything he does. I'm honored to be the preserver of some of his cherished memories. When I was picking out photos for this post, I was moved by how many shoots he and his family have done with me over the years. I am lucky to be his photographer, and also to call him my friend. But enough from me... let's hear the real story from his incredible wife - Danell...

"Doug and I met as young college students at Geneseo and were instantly smitten. The timing wasn’t right for a relationship and though I had a care-free and adventuresome spirit while Doug was focused and ready to take on the world with his fierce entrepreneur drive - there was no denying our strong connection. His clever wit and handsome smile won me over. Not long after graduating, Doug moved to Alabama while I lived in Syracuse. Our friendship continued to grow but I knew the only way to know for sure if this was THE guy was to make a move.

My defining moment - an offer from Doug to visit him in Alabama and road trip to New Orleans to see Pearl Jam in concert. After that trip, I packed up my car and moved down to be with him. There were so many unknowns at the time but somehow we always found each other. Proof of that – I was separated from Doug at the Pearl Jam concert and found myself on the ground in the mosh pit surrounded by crazed fans. Out of nowhere I felt a hand reach down and pull me up. That seems to be a theme in our marriage of 18 years. When one is down the other pulls ‘em up. It’s a balance we have that carries us through the daily challenges of juggling three kids, jobs, and everything in between.

Doug has many endearing qualities. He's always lending an ear to a friend or family member going through a difficult time. He’s encouraging and advises without judgement. He’s kind, patient, empathetic, and has such a generous heart. He continues to have a positive attitude even in the most challenging of times - and there are plenty with teenagers! He’s my soft-spot to land after a difficult day -my calming force.

I am grateful for the example he sets to our children through his dedication to work, family, and his faith. He continuously puts others first and encourages everyone to reach their best potential. I’m one of the lucky ones as he makes me want to do better and be better each day. Married for 18 years and together for 20 is no easy feat. The best life lesson that has kept our bond strong is to simply accept the other’s flaws and love that person for who they are. Doug loves unconditionally and is always there to lift me up when I'm down.

Our college days are a lifetime away, but that adventuresome spark hasn’t left either of us. Doug continues to inspire me to seek out adventures despite our hectic family schedule. Always reminding me of the importance to take time for myself and each other. Whether it’s a weekend getaway or an evening walk together, Doug makes me a priority. I feel just as adored today as the day we married.

His wit still has me laughing like a young school girl and his curiosity to always be learning something new inspires me. And though we’ve both grown and evolved, we have grown closer and are excited about our future. Doug is my best friend and my love. I love the life we have and continue to build together. Our journey of many more adventures awaits! Pearl Jam said it best…can’t find a betterman!"- Danell Gaudieri

Man Crush Monday | Bobby Pritchard

Today's Man Crush Monday is brought to you by Kristy Pritchard:)

"Bobby is one of a kind, he is my prince charming, my rock and my best friend. It is so hard to put eight years of friendship and love into words (especially because Bobby has a way with words more than I - But here it goes...).   Bobby and I met freshman year of college, outside of our advisers office. It was nothing out of the ordinary, but I remember going back to my dorm room to tell my friends that I met this really "weird" kid because I didn't know how else to describe it. Little did I know that chance meeting would be the start of something special and they all knew long before I did that he was the one.

Bobby can talk to anyone, make them laugh and feel special within minutes of meeting them.  His humorous personality is one of my favorite traits. Our wedding day was the best day of my life and it was all because of him. There are so many wonderful memories, but one of my favorites was our first look before the wedding.  Being able to have that special moment with no one watching meant the world. It's a moment that I will never forget. I also remember walking down the aisle to him, feeling overwhelmed with so many happy feelings, seeing all of our loved ones in one place and knowing that he was at the end waiting for me.  We were so wrapped up in emotions that when I reached him, we both leaned in to kiss and then realized it wasn't time yet. The day couldn't have been more perfect and filled with love!

2016-02-25_0002.jpg

Right now we are still enjoying being young and are getting the travel bug out of our system before we start our family.  We just got back from Ireland and are now planning a trip to Greece! I honestly believe that I am one of the luckiest people in the world; the adventures that we have had and the adventures that are yet to come wouldn't be the same without Bobby by my side! I will always be thankful that I am the one he chose to spend forever with."

-Mrs. Kristy Pritchard

Jaron Wilson | Man Crush Monday

Carly & Jaron Wilson's love story as written by Carly Wilson herself...

"Stubborn, free-spirited New York woman meets selfless and patient Indiana man. I first fell in love with Jaron through music. I always accredit music when asked what brought us together. It was the first thing that bound us; the instrument that emboldened us and freed us of the everyday monotony. It is something we share exclusively. Jaron is my calming force; he is a soft voice when mine is too loud. He is the kindest man I know, continually showering me with words of encouragement. He is my greatest advocate. He is intelligent, always surprising me with his exceptional mind. I love him for his humility, his sense of humor, his open-mindedness, his loyalty to those he loves, his drive to push himself in all things, and his uncanny knack for making me the happiest, most fulfilled woman on the planet. I married him because he is exactly the person I want to be around every day of my life. He shows me a gentle and understanding love that I did not know existed." And if you haven't melted into a puddle yet.... "In the future I see us somewhere out west, with a lake, a grand backyard, and many little ones occupying that space. The greatest thing I could have done with my life is share it with this man, and the only thing that could top marrying him would be building a family together. I see us maintaining our individual pursuits while also growing from shared experiences. I have learned that everything seems a little brighter, a little better, with the support of someone you love. Jaron makes all things possible in love and in life."

Heintz Engagement Session

This beautiful pair met on a blind date in 2009 -  it turned out being both of their first and last blind dates! They met up at Solera ("Erin was late!", Jeff lovingly chides whenever this story is told!). They've been together for 6 years since that infamous date, and are tying the knot this June at the Wadsworth Homestead in Geneseo. Erin is an Assistant General Counsel at Rochester Regional Health System, and Jeff is the Co-Owner of a new (and booming) venture called Hops Harvester. Not only was it a treat photographing this gorgeous couple, but their fur-babies Bailey & Dixie joined in the fun as well!

We've Moved!

Next up on our list of big announcements:  Natalie Sinisgalli Photography is moving!

Transient

We have outgrown our studio along the canal in Pittsford.  While it was a cute little space, we have so many big things in store for the new NSP that it just couldn't hold it all.  So we have packed up all our gear and moved inside a gorgeous Victorian mansion on Prince Street!

Stay tuned for perhaps an even bigger announcement very soon, perhaps our biggest yet.  Our new space is going to allow us to bring to Rochester a very exciting new line of photography.  Can't wait to share it with you.

Ciao-- Natalie

Skaneateles Engagement Session - Kristen & Michael

ROCHESTER ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY | Skaneateles, NY

Skaneateles Lake is a significant spot for my beautiful couple Kristen & Michael - it is where they got engaged. We had the pleasure of being able to go to the exact spot where Michael proposed to Kristen, took a stroll around the pier and waterfront, and finished up on their boat at their family's beautiful lakehouse on Skaneatles lake.
